Gum Disease and it’s Prevention
Our great team of dentists, therapist and hygienist will help you bring your gums back to health and maintain them there.
Two or four visits with Kim or Laura are included in our monthly payment plans. This encourages patients to attend regularly so we can effectively maintain the health of their gums. Gum disease is not able to be cured but it can be managed by thorough and regular hygiene measures.
The General Dental Council has now approved Direct Access to a hygienist/therapist. This means patients can booking directly with the hygienist/ therapist and do not have do see a dentist first. This means people who just want to have their teeth cleaned can just book in and do so. Going to a party or wedding and feel your teeth are stained? Book in and have them cleaned.
At Acorn Dental our direct access visits for people who are not registered at the practice are 30 minutes long and cost a very reasonable £60.
Our registered patients can book in to have an extra hygienist/therapist visit at any time. The cost for this 20 minute appointment is £33.04.
Please note- a hygienist/therapist is not qualified to diagnose disease though they will point out any issues that they become aware of as they clean your teeth.
Our hygienist, Kim, provides:
- Assessment of the level of gum disease
- Scaling and polishing
- Root planning treatments for gum disease
- Oral hygiene advice
- Dietary advice
- Bad breath treatments
- Fluoride treatments
- Sensitive teeth treatments
- Fissure-sealants on teeth to prevent decay
